A Date on Main — Minneapolis Engagement Session
Rhydian and Nick are getting married at the Little Log House in Hastings in less than a month, so I guess I better get this incredible engagement session out there!
These two are so adorable together that it would be obnoxious if they weren't such cool, hilarious and kind people. Speaking of hilarious, their story (the way Rhydian tells it) is worth a few laughs. And rather than play telephone and ruin the punch line, I'm going to let her speak for herself:
I had an internship lined up at a fancy shmancy HQ in LA. He was toying with buying a one-way ticket to New Zealand. But then God rolled up His sleeves and was like, "Thrill seeking, eh? I've got one for you — Nick, meet Rhydian. Rhydian, Nick."
Apparently, at the intersection of California dreaming and Almost-Australia lies Minneapolis. We met as college seniors on New Years Eve, made it Facebook Official on Valentine's Day, and were engaged by the next year's Tax Day. In the midst of all this wooing and pursuing, Nick took a job in the Cities to uproot our Iowan butts out of the cornfields and replant somewhere more concrete.
We're coming up on a year here in the Great White North, and the story of our path towards marriage is written all over this city. We rented bikes and rode up and down the Mississippi until we were saddle sore. We went for Sebastian Joe's at Lake Nokomis and crashed a wedding reception along the way. We were rocked by Coldplay in the US Bank Stadium, witnessed my first baseball game ever (Twins!) at Target Field, counted down to the New Year in Uptown, and watched fireworks on the Fourth on the Stone Arch Bridge. Nick even proposed at a rooftop restaurant downtown, an ode to the place that incubated our relationship.
Of all our city adventures, visits to St. Anthony Main were the sweetest. (No, really -- there's this gelato place we visit so often that workers call Nick the Affogato Guy.) We'd come by after church or as a cap to a day of exploring and sit and take in the skyline. Engagement photos here just added to the Minneapolis memory book created with my best friend.
Next stop on our list of places to roam: Hastings. There's a chapel there I think we need to visit...
